Who We Are

Guidance rooted in wisdom, shaped for today

At ALP Astrology, we empower individuals with deep, meaningful insights through Akshaya Lagna Paddhati (ALP) – also known as Age Lagna Paddhati – the modern, predictive method invented by Dr. S. Pothuvudaimoorthy.

Traditional astrology relies largely on Dasa and Bukthi based on the Moon. ALP gives due importance to the Lagna (Ascendant) by progressing it – covering a 120-year life span with one Nakshatra Pada every 1 year 1 month and 10 days. The result: pin-point timing of life events, consistent across any astrologer who follows the method.

The ALP Difference

How ALP differs conceptually

Two ways of reading time in a horoscope.

Traditional approach

Relies largely on Dasa and Bukthi periods calculated from the Moon, with the Lagna treated as fixed from birth.

The ALP approach

Gives due importance to the Lagna by progressing it – one Nakshatra Pada every 1 year 1 month and 10 days across a 120-year life span.

The result

Pin-point timing of life events, consistent across any astrologer who follows the method.

  • 1y 1m 10dLagna moves one Nakshatra Pada
  • 10 yearsto cross one zodiac sign (9 Padas)
  • 120 yearsfull cycle – same span as Vimshottari Dasa
  • 108 Padas27 Nakshatras × 4 Padas

ALP Explained

What is ALP Astrology?

Quick answers about Akshaya Lagna Paddhati – the progressed-Lagna method of predictive astrology.

What is Akshaya Lagna Paddhati (ALP)?

Akshaya Lagna Paddhati (ALP) – also known as Age Lagna Paddhati – is a modern predictive astrology method invented by Dr. S. Pothuvudaimoorthy. Its key concept is simple: as we grow, the Lagna (Ascendant) also progresses.

How does the Lagna progress in ALP?

In ALP the Lagna moves from one Nakshatra Pada to the next every 1 year, 1 month and 10 days. With 9 Padas in each zodiac sign, the Lagna takes 10 years to move from one sign to the next.

Why does ALP cover 120 years?

12 zodiac signs × 10 years gives a 120-year life span – the same span used by the traditional Vimshottari Dasa system.

How is ALP different from traditional astrology?

Most traditional methods derive predictions from Dasa and Bukthi based on the Moon. ALP gives due importance to the Lagna by progressing it – giving pin-point timing of life events, consistent across any astrologer who follows the method.

What are Nakshatras and Padas?

The zodiac is divided into 27 Nakshatras of 13°20′ each, and every Nakshatra has four Padas (quarters) of 3°20′ – 108 Padas in all. ALP measures the progression of the Lagna through these Padas.

Can I learn ALP astrology?

Yes. ALP is taught through structured Basic, Advanced and Master's courses, official books in Tamil and English and dedicated ALP software.
